Nathan Rigel serves as the Executive Director of Research Integrity, Security, and Compliance at Kean University, where he oversees compliance frameworks, research security initiatives, and training programs that support faculty, staff, and student researchers campuswide. Dr. Rigel’s team is charged with fostering a culture of accountability, safeguarding research assets, and enabling innovative scholarship for the Kean research community.

Dr. Rigel holds a B.S. in Microbiology from the Pennsylvania State University and earned his Ph.D. in Microbiology and Immunology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. After completing a postdoctoral fellowship in the Department of Molecular Biology at Princeton University, Dr. Rigel joined the faculty of the Department of Biology at Hofstra University.  While at Hofstra, Dr. Rigel’s lab group studied various protein transport pathways in Gram-negative bacteria. Dr. Rigel joined the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs at Kean University in 2024
